Shikhar Dhawan, one of India’s most iconic openers, has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, bringing to a close a distinguished 14-year international career. Known for his explosive batting and the famous "Gabbar" persona, Dhawan leaves behind a legacy that has left an indelible mark on Indian cricket and its fans.

In a heartfelt message posted on social media, the 38-year-old cricketer expressed his deep gratitude for the support and love he received throughout his career. "As I close this chapter of my cricketing journey, I carry with me countless memories and gratitude. Thank you for your love and support! Jai Hind!" Dhawan shared, underscoring his contentment and peace with the decision to step away from the game.

Reflecting on his journey, Dhawan revealed that the decision to retire was not a difficult one. "It's not like it is a tough decision for me. I am not even emotional. I don't want to cry or something. But mostly it's gratitude and love. I have spent most of my life playing cricket, and I feel I've reached a stage where I want to rest now," he stated in an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times.

Dhawan made his international debut in 2010 during an ODI against Australia and quickly became a staple in India’s batting lineup. Over the years, he represented India in 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is. His best performances came in the 50-over format, where he amassed 6,793 runs at an impressive average of 44.11. One of the standout moments of his career was his Test debut, where he scored a record-breaking 187 runs, a memory he holds dear.
